Booker T hasn’t wrestled in WWE since 2012, but you can never say never about him lacing up his boots again. One things we won’t see him do is compete in a cinematic match.
During his Hall of Fame radio show, Booker T made it clear that he’s not interested in doing any sort of cinematic match. It’s not in his realm of expertise. He’s an OG and isn’t interested in anything like a Boneyard Match
“No, that’s not my realm of expertise, I think. I don’t think Booker T’s name requires being in that type of match. I think it works when you have a guy like Sting, when you have a guy like The Undertaker, when you have characters like Bray Wyatt.”
“For just Booker T that grew up in South Park, TX, no. He’s OG. He’s bad to the bone. 258 pounds of rompin’, stompin’, grave digging destruction. If he’s going to get somebody, he’s going to get them right in the middle of the ring.”
Booker T and Steve Austin’s famous grocery store match was a bit of a cinematic style decades before it was essential. You can check out that match below for a blast from the past.
The pandemic caused WWE, AEW, and Impact Wrestling to dive into the cinematic match idea. Booker T didn’t completely drag the concept, but participating in a match like that isn’t for him.
