Brodie Lee Requested That His Illness Remain Secret

Brodie Lee’s passing surprised a lot of people who had no idea he was sick. Some within AEW knew, but the news did not get out. This was at Brodie Lee’s request.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that Brodie Lee himself requested that nobody release information about his illness. He didn’t want the publicity. He also didn’t want anyone taking photos of him in that hospital bed.

“He, Jon [Brodie Lee] didn’t want the publicity. He certainly didn’t want any photos of him in that condition, but he did not want the publicity.”

Brodie Lee’s family requested that AEW keep his illness quiet, and they did. They were able to keep this information from getting out until his tragic passing. Now we are getting more information about what went on during the final days of Brodie Lee’s life. It was actually Brodie Lee who wanted this information to remain quiet.

AEW kept Brodie Lee’s illness a secret, but it wasn’t their call. They were respecting the wishes of Amanda Huber and Brodie Lee himself.
