Sting’s debut on AEW Dynamite Winter Is Coming a few weeks ago shocked the entire pro wrestling world. He reportedly signed a multi-year contract with the company and is expected to be featured regularly on the show.
Many fans have been wondering exactly what role Sting will have in the company. WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross on the latest episode of his Grilling JR podcast, addressed the question as he shared his thoughts as to what Sting’s role will be in AEW.
According to Ross, Sting was signed to the company so that he can perform in various roles. While JR is unsure exactly what roles Sting will be doing, he is certain that it will have something to do with AEW’s Creative team.
Ross also mentioned there are many ways to be a character on television without being an active wrestler.
“What’s really going on is Tony Khan reached out, hired Sting to multi-year deal. He’s gonna have a variety of roles. I don’t know what they are exactly, but they’ll be in a creative capacity to where he’s a character on television. There’s a lot of ways to be a character on TV that’s been accepted by the audience nowadays that doesn’t include wrestling a match every week.”
We will have to see what the company has planned for Sting. It is expected he will competing inside the ring eventually.
