FTR are now officially the top tag team on the globe. Pro Wrestling Illustrated put out a Top 50 Tag Teams list for the first time, and FTR won the honor as the #1 spot on that inaugural list.
Fightful was able to get some words from the Top Guys. They are elated about this honor, and Cash Wheeler said that it’s one of the proudest moments in his career.
“It’s a huge honor and one of our proudest moments to be the inaugural number one team in the Tag Team Top 50. We put a lot of time and effort into being the best tag team to ever do this. We know we have a long way to go, but this is another big step in that direction.”
Dax Harwood spoke about the legacy that will be left after being on top of that list. It tells their story that they will never be forgotten. They certainly made history in a big way and that is very exciting for them.
“A legacy is a part of a person that lives on long after they’re gone. It leaves a story so they’re not forgotten. In this case, it’s a team. A team that made every decision based on what their legacy COULD be. Money is cool, but a legacy lasts forever. Being the #1 ranked team of the year reassures us we made the right decision.
We’ve only ever wanted to be the best to ever do it. Is that too much to ask for?”
FTR cemented their legacy with this honor, something that they don’t take lightly. The Top Guys are literally the top guys, but that likely won’t make them lose focus as they continue chasing the AEW Tag Team Titles that they just dropped to the Young Bucks prior to that match coming together.
