Alex Shelley never made it to the ring to wrestle at Bound For Glory. The North, who ended up winning the Impact Tag Team Titles, jumped Motor City Machine Guns as they made their way to the ring. Josh Alexander dropped Shelley on his head with a double-underhood piledriver on the entrance ramp, and Chris Sabin had to wrestle the match alone.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer explained that Shelley was injured going into the Bound For Glory match. That spot was a way to write him out of the match.

“It was scripted, but I guess he has a real injury and they’re taking time off. He was injured going in and it’s very clear that this was scripted to write him out of the match, and he has some damage to the C5 and C6 vertebrae, so he has some neck damage.”

Alexander hit a brutal piledriver on Shelley which took him out of the match. It is interesting that they went with that move considering Alex Shelley’s legit injury, but now The Walking Weapon can take all of the credit as he destroyed Alex Shelley’s neck.
