Rich Swann’s Doctor Told Him Injury Would Force Him To Retire

The pro wrestling ring can be a very unpredictable place, and Rich Swann loves it, but it still comes with a lot of risk. Swann recently recovered from an injury that was so bad his doctor warned it might end his career.

Rich Swann opened up in the past about how bad his injury was. His bone was almost poking out of his skin due to the extreme breakage. He was able to press on and is continuing his career with Impact Wrestling.

While speaking to Busted Open Radio, Rich Swann explained that there was a time during his recent recovery where his doctor told him that he likely won’t be able to wrestle again. Obviously, they were mistaken, but that’s how bad it was.

“Once I started going to the doctor after the surgery and they saw how severe it was and I started showing videos of my work, he looked at me and said, ‘Bud, I don’t think you’re gonna be doing this.’ We started getting more serious and he said I might have to think about another profession and I might not be walking, I might have a limp for the rest of my life.”

It was great to see Rich Swann return to action. They accomplished this in the storyline by him kayfabe retiring on Impact. He can now continue his career and achieve even more in the business he couldn’t bear to leave.
