Welcome to Ringside News’ live results for AEW Dynamite on October 14th, 2020, the one year anniversary of Dynamite.
Seeing as it’s the anniversary of the show, every title will be on the line tonight. Starting with the big one, Lance Archer Vs. Jon Moxley for the AEW World Title. This match was supposed to take place a few weeks back but was derailed due to COVID, but here we are. There’s been very little in the way of build-up to this match but it should deliver between the ropes and something tells me Archer might win.
Next up we have Cody Vs. Orange Cassidy for the TNT Championship. A few weeks ago Cassidy challenged for the TNT Championship and lost, so naturally he gets another shot tonight. If you’re a big AEW fan then surely you’re excited for this match. Which means you’re also probably excited for Hikaru Shida Vs. Big Swole for the AEW Women’s Championship. Quite frankly, Big Swole is just awful and Shida is entirely incapable of bringing others up, so I expect a forgettable match if not a disaster.
And speaking of disasters, coming hot off thier mind-rotting match against TH2 last week, FTR will defend their Tag Team Titles against the mud-show duo of Best Friends. Surely FTR will retain and send Best Friends back to the mid-card, but the sad reality is there isn’t many credible options left for the Champions to face. And rounding out tonight’s show is Miro and Kip Sabian in action, as well as a “huge announcement” from MJF.
That’s the AEW anniversary show as we know it so far. It’s going to be a big night for AEW and it’s loyal fanbase, and we’ll have live updates right here. Let us know what you’re excited to see and enjoy the show!
The anniversary episode of AEW Dynamite opens the way so many episodes do, with a match.
We start things off with Cash and Chuck, and Taylor hits a shoulder tackle. Cash takes a wristlock and tags Dax, who maintains control of said wrist until Chuck breaks free and hits a shoulder tackle and an arm-drag. Trent tags in and helps Chuck hit a double shoulder, followed by a kick to the back and an armlock. Dax forces Trent to the corner and chops him, then looks for a suplex but Trent counters with a roll-up.
Cash tags in and blindsides Trent, hitting him with a facebuster onto the ropes. Dax hits a back suplex before leaving the ring and Cash batters Trent with kicks and forearms. Dax tags in and they hit a drop-toe-hold and a snap elbow drop. Cash tags in and they hit a double-team catapult into the bottom rope. Cash stomps on Trent a few times, then drags him under the bottom rope and batters him with forearms.
Trent is tackled to the floor and Dax gets the tag to go after him. Dax chops Trent, who fires back with a forearm. FTR get him back inside and Cash tags in to continue the beatdown. Trent starts fighting back but Dax tags in and cuts him off before knocking Chuck off the apron. Dax hits a back superplex and crawls to tag Cash for a two-count. Cash goes to the middle rope for a Vader bomb but gets caught with knees in the gut.
Chuck and Dax get tags and Taylor drops both FTR with clotheslines a few times, and sends them both out of the ring so her can hit a tope and stare at the camera. Chuck gets Dax inside and hits a falcon arrow for a near-fall. Dax rolls to the apron and Chuck drills him with a forearm, then looks to suplex him in but Tully pulls the foot and he falls with Dax on top for a near-fall.
Cash tags in and they attempt a double-team but Trent comes in and Best Friends team to hit an awkward sunset flip pin attempt. Trent whips Dax into a knee from Chuck, then hits an exploder suplex and a running knee for a near-fall. Dax gets Trent on the top rope and wants another back superplex but Trent counters with a crossbody for a near-fall.
Trent drops an incoming Cash with a tornado DDT but Dax ducks a punch and hits a snap DDT for a near-fall. FTR attempt the spike piledriver but Chuck knocks Cash off the top and then he and Trent hit Storm Zero for a near-fall. Chuck and Cash brawl on the floor until Cash hits a suplex. Trent dropkicks Cash through the ropes and knocks him over the guard rail.
Trent goes after Cash for a silly spot where Trent misses a spear and crashes through Kip Sabian’s arcade machine. Penelope Ford sprints to the back as Cash gets Trent back inside the ring. FTR look to hit the Goodnight Express but Chuck prevents it, then he gets a tag and chops Harwood over and over. Chuck waits obviously for Cash to run in with the belt and dodge him, only to get cracked with the title a minute later. Dax covers for the pinfall.
FTR leave after the match and Best Friends hug, but then out comes Miro who only gets fired-up when someone touches his vide games. Miro and Sabian beat and knock Best Friends from the ring. They’re in action after the break.

The match begins with Miro and Maluta, and Miro beats him down right away and knocks him from the ring. Miro slams Maluta into the barricade and the apron several times, then gets him back inside. Miro batters him, then knocks Lee off the apron and slams him into the barricade as well. Miro gets back inside and beats Maluta some more. Sabian gets a tag and hits a frog splash, then tags Miro for the camel clutch.
After the match Sabian gets on the microphone and he screams that Trent ruined his most prized possession. He holds up the keyboard of the arcade machine and then Miro shouts in Bulgarian. Miro says Best Friends broke his “$hit” and it’s game over.
The camera cuts backstage and Lance Archer is beating Jon Moxley senseless. He puts Moxley on a table and slams his head into it over and over before Roberts and some staff get him off.

MJF comes out alongside Wardlow and insults the fans before inviting Chris Jericho to join him in the ring. The Inner Circle come down to the ring wearing the jackets MJF gave them, except for Sammy, who is holding his. Jericho demands he put the jacket on but it’s way too big. MJF says as good as the jacket looks, we have to point out how incredible Jericho’s body is, and his hair. MJF asks to touch his hair and they go back and forth for a minute.
Jericho tells MJF to cut the crap and get to his big announcement. MJF says he doesn’t want any hostilities, so he’ll keep it real. Jericho and him are the two biggest draws in AEW. And in the year that Dynamite has been on TV they’ve both beaten a lot of foes, but somehow they’ve never gotten physical. MJF says that’s because they’re two predators and you don’t see two piranha’s fight. However their foes have adapted and gotten better, so maybe they should work together.
MJF tries to say he wants to join the Inner Circle but can’t get the words out. He eventually says he kinda, sorta, maybe, might want to join the Inner Circle. Jericho asks if he wants to join the Inner Circle and MJF asks who started that dumb rumour? Santana says they don’t want MJF in the Inner Circle. Jericho tells them to hold on and he says next week he can MJF should meet, one-on-one…for a steak dinner. MJF says he’s on and they shake hands.
Tony Schiavone and Britt Baker get massages together – because we just cannot have enough comedy – and Baker lists more of her rules for life. She then realises Tony is naked and starts screaming. Baker waxes the chest of Tony and then tells us she returns to action next week.

For what it’s worth, Cody is blonde again. The bell rings and Cody hits the ropes but Cassidy doesn’t move. Cody tries to get him to do something and looks to lock-up but OC ducks it. Cassidy feigns a lock-up, then puts his hands in his pockets. Cody shoves him and his glasses fall off, so Cassidy kicks them out of the ring.
They lock-up and Cassidy puts Cody in the corner, then taunts him, so Cody grabs him and slams him down. Cody grabs hold but OC puts his hands in his pockets and shrugs him off. Cody takes Cassidy down with a headlock but OC fights free and rolls him up for a one-count. Cassidy hits an arm-drag but Cody drills him with a knee and hits a stalling vertical suplex.
*Commercial Break*
Back live and Cody is in control but Cassidy fires back with his shin kicks. Cody gets angry and hits an uppercut, then OC hits a super sloppy superkick that knocks Cody from the ring. OC hits a suicide dive and Cody falls over the guard rail beside some Dark Order goons. John Silver grabs the TNT Championship and looks to hit Cody but Cassidy stops him, then the referees eject all Dark Order from ringside.
Cassidy puts Cody in the ring and hits a flying crossbody, but Cody rolls through and looks for CrossRhodes but Cassidy drops down for a roll-up and two. Cassidy hits Slumdog Millionaire then just waits around, acting hurt randomly while Cody gets up and hits a springboard cutter. They do the slow punch for punch thing in the middle of the ring and Cassidy gets the better with some ridiculous looking chest palm-strikes.
Cody drops OC with a basement dropkick, then drags him under the bottom rope and whips his leg off the ring post. Cody looks for the Figure Four but Cassidy kicks him off. Cody hits the Disaster Kick for a near-fall. Cody can’t lock-in a single leg Boston crab because of his sore neck, and OC looks for a roll-up but Cody hits a lariat and does some push-ups.
Cody puts Cassidy on the top rope and bends his knee around the rope, then climbs up and hits a reverse superplex. Cody is still favouring his neck as he drags Cassidy under the bottom rope again but this time Cassidy yanks Cody face-first into the post. OC goes up top and hits a diving DDT for a near-fall. Cassidy gets up and hits a Michonoku Driver for another near-fall.
Cody counters Cassidy and locks in the Figure Four. Cassidy tries to power out but Cody doesn’t let him, so OC rolls to reverse the pressure but Cody rolls through. They continue rolling over and reversing pressure until they get on the apron. Cassidy lifts Cody and hits Peach Break on the apron and both men fall to the floor. Cassidy gets Cody back inside and scores a two-count, Cody rolls back with a crucifix for two.
One minute remains in the match as both men hit double lariats. Cody looks for the CrossRhodes but Cassidy flips over and hits a tornado DDT. Cassidy gets fired-up and lifts Cody for another Peach Break for a near-fall. Cassidy, apparently a complete idiot who doesn’t understand time, stands and stares into the distance until 8 seconds remain. Cassidy rolls-up Cody but the time runs out before the referee can count three.
Lance Archer and Jake Roberts are interviewed backstage but Moxley attacks him almost right away. They get separated and scream at each other until the segment ends.
Matt Hardy and his family are interviewed at ringside and Tony asks how he’s doing. Matt says he’s feeling perfect and he’s happy to be here with his family. Hardy says he is proud of AEW and what they’ve accomplished. He is happy to announce that, as of tonight, he is 100% healthy.
Suddenly we see a hooded figure on the screen and they are in front of pictures of Matt Hardy, which they set on fire. It’s Sammy Guevara. Sammy then appears on the screen from backstage and he admits he attacked Matt, and he’s going to keep hurting him until he can’t compete. Somehow I believe Sammy, seeing as how incompetent and dangerous a wrestler he is. Matt says beating Sammy will be his first act upon returning to action.

Back live and we have all the AEW tag teams around the ring. Inside the ring is FTR, Tully, and Tony. They do a raffle to determine who will be part of a four-team match to decide who will be the new number one contenders to FTR. The teams are Private Party, Silver & Reynolds, The Butcher & The Blade, and Young Bucks.
Matt and Nick come down to the ring and offer handshakes to FTR and it’s a tense affair. Nick says they aren’t here to superkick Tony Schiavone, they’re here to superkick “these guys” and they superkick Silver and Reynolds. Matt throws the raffle machine into Dax and they attack the other teams. A brawl breaks out and we’re left with Private Party and Young Bucks. They share a staredown and the Bucks offer handshakes, then superkick them and stare at FTR. Imagine how much more sense this feud would make if the Bucks were babyfaces.
*Commercial Break*
They shake hands to start this match and lock-up. Shida takes control but Swole knocks her down with a shoulder. Swole ducks a lariat but gets dropped with a shoulder. Swole takes a sleeper and attempts a roll-up. Both women trade roll-ups in what feels like a slow-motion, choreographed sequences, which is proven when they both attempt stereo arm-drags and both fall.
Both women attempt to kip-up but Shida can’t, then tosses Swole to the apron. Shida hits a knee to Swole and drags her under the bottom rope for her unimpactful running knee. Shida screams at the camera for a while until Swole shoves her into the cameraman. We head to the break and this match is as bad as I expected.
*Commercial Break*
We return to see Swole headbutt Shida in the chest, then get thrown to the apron. Shida climbs up top and looks to suplex Swole, who jumps over for a sunset flip bomb but misses and lands on her ass. Swole then throws Shida to the ramp and jumps out for a cutter, then hits another inside the ring for a near-fall.
Shida hits a straight-jacket suplex, then a falcon arrow for a near-fall. Swole dodges Shida and hits Dirty Dancing. She goes for the cover but Shida grabs the rope. Shida avoids Dirty Dancing again and hits a running knee to the back of the head, then one to the face and this match mercifully ends.
Eddie Kingston and The Lucha Bro’s come out and join the commentary team for the main event.
We see a video of Shawn Spears talking about Scorpio Sky. Apparently they’ve started feuding on AEW Dark, and Spears says Sky owes him a moment he stole and he plans on collecting the debt.
*Commercial Break*
The match starts and Moxley hits a Paradigm Shift for a near-fall right off the bat. Moxley looks for it again but Archer tackles him out of the ring. Archer sends Moxley into the barricade, then again before getting him in the ring. Moxley dropkicks Lance off the apron and hits a suicide dive.
They brawl around ringside with Archer getting the better of it. Archer gets Moxley back inside but gets hit with a stiff lariat and isn’t fazed. Moxley drills Lance with some forearms but gets caught with a pounce and is knocked from the ring. Archer goes to the apron and hits a cannonball senton as we take a break.
*Commercial Break*
Back from the final break and Lance wants to hit a chokeslam off the apron through tables but Moxley clotheslines him into the ring. Moxley jumps off the top rope but gets caught and dropped. Lance talks some trash before clobbering Jon with a right forearm. They trade shots and Moxley dodges a second pounce to hit a release German suplex.
Moxley goes out and gets a few chairs in the ring. He throws a chair straight into the face of Archer, then sets two tables upright in the ring. Moxley gets Archer on his shoulders but the big man climbs off and chokeslams the Champion onto both chairs for a near-fall. Archer wraps a chair around Moxley’s head and looks to hit him with another chair but Moxley wraps his legs around him with a kneebar.
Jake helps Lance get to the ropes but there is no rope break so Archer drags himself out of the ring. Archer stands on the floor with a trash can for a solid ten seconds before Moxley runs for a suicide dive and he hits him in mid-air. Archer takes Moxley to the apron by the tables again but Moxley low-blows him and hits a Paradigm Shift through the tables!
Both men get back into the ring and Moxley hits an elevated Paradigm Shift but Archer kicks out! Moxley applies the bulldog choke but Archer quickly stands up and shoves him off. Moxley gets a roll-up for a two and Archer hits a DDT. Archer chokeslams Moxley into the buckles, then puts him up top and hits The Blackout. Moxley counters the pin with a crucifix and wins!
As soon as the match ends Archer boots Moxley down. The Lucha Bro’s and Eddie Kingston go down to the ring and attack Lance Archer. Jake Roberts tells Lance to leave and he just walks off.
Kingston directs traffic as Pentagon and Fenix lift Moxley. Kingston says Moxley just had a hell of a match and they’ve been friends forever. Kingston lifts Jon’s hand and says he’s carried the company for a year. Kingston says he’s proud of Moxley and raises his hand before punching him. Kingston applies a rear naked choke until Moxley passes out. Kingston lifts the AEW Championship and says it’s beautiful, it’s everything they fight for. And midway through his promo the show ends.
And that’s it for AEW Dynamite on the one-year anniversary. Let us know what you could possibly have enjoyed and go check out our results for NXT. Until next time, stay safe!
