Brodie Lee knows what it is like when plans change. He was a part of WWE for far too long not to have a grasp of the concept. His role in AEW is different, and he wants to stay away from those creative decisions until they are set in stone.
Lee recently spoke to AEW Unrestricted podcast where he went into some details about why he stays away from the creative side of things. He quickly gets “married” to an idea, and when those plans change it can be maddening.
He also revealed that the original plans didn’t call for him to become TNT Champion at all.
“I believe that the original plan was for me to not become TNT Champion. I’m kind of not privy to the ins and outs, the nuts and bolts of it all, probably because I don’t want to be. Because if I get a thought in my head, I become quickly married to it, and then if something changes, I go insane. So, I try not to know too much about what’s supposed to happen and kind of just live in the moment.”
“I learned my lessons the hard way over many, many years. So, I try to stay pretty level-headed, and not get too much information, and take things on as they are presented to me, and the match itself was presented to me a week or two before it even happened. So, I just kind of wanted to train, look the part, and then do whatever was asked of me.”
Brodie Lee was presented in a much different way from how WWE handled his Luke Harper character. There are a lot of things about this run in AEW that are different from his tenure in WWE, but since it’s pro wrestling there is always going to be a chance that the card is subject to change.
