WWE is taking ownership over Superstars’ Twitch and Cameo accounts. This comes at a time when some thought that at least Twitch was going to be okay because those Superstars were told to use their legal first names.
The company is now taking ownership of those accounts and it is still unknown what will happen if/when a Superstar leaves the company. It remains to be seen whether WWE will give back the whole account or not.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, one WWE Superstar was quoted as saying: “This is amazing because it’s really going to open up the independent contractor issue. All these smart attorneys surrounding Vince and this is the battle he wants?”
It was also noted by that Superstar that “a lot of talent is livid, but as is usually the case in these situations, nobody would speak up about it.”
WWE also wants control. Ringside News exclusively reported that AJ Styles’ Twitch stream caused some to pay attention within the company for the wrong reasons. Styles said things like admitting that his son doesn’t watch WWE to disclosing a positive COVID-19 test. Even though Styles was talking about a test that took place months prior, WWE still didn’t like it.
