WWE NXT and AEW Dynamite are both on Wednesday nights. NXT was technically on Wednesdays prior to AEW’s arrival, but WWE made a switch to the USA Network for NXT conveniently after AEW announced Dynamite was going to be a thing.

There were a few weeks in recent memory where AEW and NXT had to air on different days. This allowed many more fans to watch each show. NXT drew over 800,000 fans, and AEW cracked 1 million.

There was a report that USA Network tried to move NXT to Tuesdays a while ago, but WWE didn’t want to leave. Chris Jericho thinks that NXT should certainly “retreat” from Wednesday nights.

During a teleconference to hype NXT TakeOver: 31, Triple H was asked by Dave Meltzer if NXT had given any more thought to a Tuesday move. Triple H said that he doesn’t hear anyone asking about AEW moving to Tuesdays. NXT isn’t leaving Wednesdays. They are “happy where they are,” and that decision is between WWE and their network partners.

“As far as where it sits, those are business questions that come down to WWE and our partners.”

NXT could still move to Tuesdays, but keep a show on Wednesdays. When WWE couldn’t debut the black and gold brand’s show on the USA Network on Wednesday, they still used the SyFy Channel to air a repeat which garnered  183,000 viewers..
