RVD has been in the pro wrestling business for a very long time and he’s suffered a few injuries. His 5 Star Frog Splash has dazzled crowds, but nothing is 100% safe no matter how many times it is done to perfection.

While speaking to the Pro Wrestling Junkies recently, RVD went into his career with WWE. He spoke about how Triple H tried to use backstage politics to manipulate him. Then RVD ventured a little closer to present day with his storytelling.

RVD discussed his patented 5 Star Frog Splash and revealed that it’s still not error proof. He likes giving himself a challenge and he recently did just that as he hit the move on Tommy Dreamer. This caused RVD to suffer a concussion and Dreamer needed to go to physical therapy to fix the arm that Rob Van Dam busted up in the process.

“Yeah, [the 5 Star Frog Splash] hurts but it’s inconsistent. A lot of the times it depends on what I’ve had going into the match. A lot of times my ribs might be bruised, and in that case, everything hurts! Sometimes, if I’m winded and breathing heavily, it can hurt, and sometimes it’s just the way I land. If the guy moves and I land flat, somehow that f*cks me up even worse.”

“Recently I hit Tommy Dreamer with a [5 Star] Frog Splash,” RVD added. “He was kind of far away, but I wanted that challenge. Just being off a couple inches, when I came down, my face hit his shoulder and I gave myself a concussion. His arm was all purple and he actually had to do some therapy on it afterwards, but nobody would even know by watching it.”

RVD doesn’t wrestle as much as he used to. This gives the 49-year-old pro wrestler time to heal up between his matches. If he continues to give everything he can in the ring then that is a very good strategy because his body can’t take the same consistent abuse it once did.
