Trent’s Mom Was A Late Addition To AEW’s Plans

The Best Friends have been spotted in Trent’s Mom’s van a time or two in the past. They even made her van the crux of a storyline with Santana and Ortiz. It almost didn’t happen because adding Trent’s mom was a late addition to the show.

AEW Unrestricted recently had the Best Friends on as guests. Trent revealed that the idea of having his mother show up in her van was actually pitched as a joke. They already had a few people using cars and he didn’t think Tony Khan would go for it.

Khan is always ready for a new idea and eager to listen. They only had about a week before the segment, but Tony Khan approved Trent’s mom Sue’s cameo.

“We were watching the show and realized there was a week where there were like four different people coming in their car.  As a joke, I said as a joke that it would be funny if my mom dropped us off in her van. That was like a week before we did it. We told Tony and he was like, ‘yea.’  My mom was excited to do it.”

Trent’s mom’s van even made it on to an AEW t-shirt that the Best Friends still wear to this day. We’ll have to see if Trent’s mom makes any more appearances. She also brought homemade cookies for everyone backstage in the company. That probably helped her odds tremendously of getting invited back.
