AEW Dynamite this week included a big match as the NWA Women’s World Title was defended on the show. This match reportedly broke into shoot strikes. New information seems to refute that previous claim.
Thunder Rosa reportedly started laying in real strikes when Ivelisse wouldn’t sell for her. The match carried on, but there was reportedly an intense time when they were really making contact. PW Insider noted that no shoot strikes took place at all.
During Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez discussed the story about Thunder Rosa and Ivelisse’s match breaking into shoot strikes. He said after asking several people backstage they have no idea what that report was referring to.
“I asked multiple people in AEW. Nobody had any idea what this story was all about. They did their match, they went backstage, there was zero issue. Neither of them are under contract with AEW. Are you telling me that they’re going to go in the ring and start shooting and then the company is going to bring them back for another match next week?”
Alvarez stated that he is “99.999999% sure” that no shooting took place. It was also noted that any “shoot strike” spots were placed in the match due to Thunder Rosa and Ivelisse’s MMA backgrounds.
Ivelisse and Thunder Rosa will be back next week. They are not under contract with AEW, and neither is Diamante who is also in the tag team match next week. It appears that there are some conflicting accounts about what really went down this week on AEW Dynamite.
