WWE did away with the idea of authority figures when the McMahon Family showed up on Raw and promised that fans are the new authority. In recent weeks it seems Adam Pearce has been acting like an authority figure on WWE programming, but that’s not the intention.
Adam Pearce has been given a few notable roles in recent memory. He was front and center during Bray Wyatt’s ambulance transformation angle, and he also busted up his hand in the process.
After being tasked to get all of the signatures for the Universal Title match at Payback, he has remained on television. Pearce is also responsible for keeping Retribution off of Raw, but he’s not very good at that.
Ringside News has learned that Adam Pearce is not a new General Manager, or any other type of official “authority figure” per se. He is “someone from ‘management’ who can make decisions.”
A writer with close knowledge of this situation confirmed to us that WWE isn’t bringing back authority figure characters. There is no current plan to label anyone as a General Manager, Constable, or otherwise. Adam Pearce is someone else who can represent an official stance while not being a referee.
Adam Pearce has taken every opportunity given to him, and fans enjoy seeing the five-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion on WWE television. Odds are this situation will continue for him as time goes on.
