WWE laid down an edict that upset a lot of people. They said that WWE Superstars are no longer allowed to take part in third party business. Those Superstars were also told that they aren’t allowed to use their real names because WWE owns those as well.

Superstars can make a lot of money doing Twitch, YouTube, and Cameo videos. The company saw that and wanted to put an end to Superstars capitalizing on their company-made fame. The company has now changed the strict nature of that new rule.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that he was told by WWE that Superstars are encouraged to use social media as much as possible. They can use their legal names as long as they get permission first.

“Basically everybody was told that everybody can do Twitch and YouTube, and use your real name. You just have to be aware of it, and I was told that everybody is encouraged to use social media platforms. You’re encouraged to do it. They want you to use social media platforms and expand your name expand your brand and all that, but you cannot monitoze the WWE’s name.”

It was noted that Paige cannot use her WWE name to make money. This is why she changed her name to Saraya Official on Twitch to stay in the clear.

Ringside News exclusively reported many details about this situation including WWE’s desire to start their own Cameo service. It seems that due to WWE’s aspirations to get into the personalized video message market Cameo is still off limits as of October 2nd.
