WWE & Wade Barrett In Talks For Full-Time Return

Wade Barrett sat in on NXT commentary last week. Since they filmed this week’s episode of NXT last week as well he will return on Tuesday’s show. It was great to have Barrett back, and there’s some good news for fans who miss his style of bad news on commentary.

According to PW Insider, Wade Barrett and WWE are in talks for a full-time return to the company as an announcer. It is unclear what Mauro Ranallo’s status is as of this writing.

It was further stated that the thinking is that Wade Barrett could be inserted into the NXT UK brand as an announcer. Triple H did previously state that they want this reintroduction for NXT UK to be much bigger.

There had been WWE interest in Bennett dating back to early 2020 as an announcer.  We are told that if the two sides come to terms, it would be for Bennett to announce, not return as a full-time in-ring performer.  There was talk over the last few days that Bennett could perhaps be plugged into NXT UK as an announcer.

It was reported that Wade Barrett’s temporary return to commentary was meant as a “feeling out process.” The process obviously went very well. Now WWE wants Barrett’s voice calling the action in the ring.
