Paul Heyman returned to WWE television as Roman Reigns’ Advocate. This was a shocking turn of events that nobody saw coming, but what does it mean for Heyman’s role in WWE?
We’ve already covered the initial backstage reaction to Roman Reigns revealing his new Advocate. Paul Heyman’s own Looking4Larry Agency didn’t even know their boss was returning to WWE television.
Heyman’s last appointment in WWE was as Executive Director of Raw, but he was fired in June. His return to the company brought a lot of questions with it regarding the possibility of him getting back into the creative side of things.
Ringside News has learned that Paul Heyman is only back as an on-screen performer at this time as far as the creative team knows. He is not writing for a show, nor was he officially placed in a position on the creative team.
That being said, Paul Heyman has had “significant input” on what’s going on with Roman Reigns. Those plans are being kept between a very select group of people, primarily only those directly involved.
We were told by a longtime member of the WWE creative team that the writers were “shocked” when Heyman appeared during SmackDown. Roman Reigns reciting Paul Heyman’s famous “that’s not a prediction, that’s a spoiler” line was not in the script they wrote. This is another indication of Paul Heyman’s obvious fingerprints as they were all stunned to see him appear on screen.
