Samoa Joe rejoined the RAW announce team during the WWE Performance Center pandemic shows. Joe previously had a role on commentary, but he returned to the ring and was then injured. He hasn’t left since his last return to the announce booth.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer was asked about Samoa Joe’s current situation in WWE. A listener wanted to know if Joe was “done in WWE” as a wrestler. The idea is that Samoa Joe will wrestle again, but he will remain on commentary in the meantime.

“When he first started doing the announcing I was told that he was too valuable as a talent to have him as an announcer, but obviously minds changed from when I was told that to when they decided to revamp it.”

Samoa Joe suffered a couple of concussions in quick fashion. WWE takes concussions seriously. It’s unknown if Samoa Joe is currently cleared for a return to the ring, but at least he is still on television as a part of commentary.

It was noted that “in theory,” Samoa Joe is supposed to wrestle again. They can always bring Joe back to the ring with an angle where someone gets in his face. In the meantime, Samoa Joe will continue on the announce desk which is a location he is excelling in.
