Rey Mysterio returned to WWE television prior to SummerSlam. Now he will stand in his son Dominik’s corner as he faces Seth Rollins. That came with a new contract for Myserio.
WWE and Rey Mysterio were trying to work out a new deal for a while. Mysterio’s previous deal gave him an out-clause at the 18-month mark and WWE wanted to sign him for much longer this time around.
It was noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the current belief is that WWE signed Rey Mysterio to a three-year contract. That falls in line with the typical lengths of deals that the company goes for.
Mysterio has said numerous times that he might not have a ton of time left in the ring. Apparently, WWE was able to at least get him to agree to another three years.
Rey Mysterio is currently 45-years-old, so this new contract will keep him with WWE for what could be his final years in the ring.
