Sonya Deville was recently the target of a very scary situation. Thankfully, she is okay, but things could have gotten much worse.
The Tampa Bay Times reports that a man has been arrested at the home of Sonya Deville. This fan named Philip A Thomas II is 24-years-old and has stalked Deville and plotted out a kidnapping plan for eight months. He was stalking her on social media for years.
F4W Online reports they received a call from Sonya Deville’s neighbor confirming it was her.
Sheriff Chad Chronister issued a response on the matter saying: “It’s frightening to think of all the way this incident could have played out had the home alarm not gone off and alerted the homeowner of an intruder.”
Thomas II was arrested and charged with aggravated stalking, armed burglary of a dwelling, attempted armed kidnapping, and criminal mischief. He is being held without bail.
Thomas had parked his car at around midnight and walked to Sonya Deville’s home. Then he allegedly cut a hole in the patio screen and remained there for three or four hours while he was watching and listening through the window. It is believed that Deville and her friend were watching the UFC fights on Saturday night at the time.
At around 2:45, after Sonya Deville went to bed Thomas entered her home using a sliding glass door. This activated an alarm and he was spotted. Thomas fled Deville’s home and she called 911.
Thomas was found carrying a knife, plastic zip ties, duct tape, mace, and other things he could use in a kidnapping. It is believed he was going to hold the homeowner, Deville hostage.
At this time Sonya Deville has not publicly addressed this scary situation.
