WWE and Rey Mysterio have been hammering out a new contract for a while. He worked through the Horror Show at Extreme Rules without an actual contract in place. That deal is coming very close to finalizing.
Rey Mysterio was spotted in Stamford a couple of weeks ago. Mr. 6-1-9 hasn’t appeared on RAW since Extreme Rules, but his son Dominik has. The thinking was that Mysterio would be more likely to sign with WWE to help further Dominik’s career.
It is reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that they can’t confirm that the contract is actually signed, but a new deal is incredibly close to becoming official between WWE and Rey Mysterio.
I can’t confirm pen to paper, but Rey Mysterio is staying, as was always the betting line outcome of this, but it’s as close to official without confirmation of it being official, and obviously Dominik is a big part of that deal.
It was also reported that the length of Mysterio’s new deal is longer than his previous 18-month agreement. It’s unknown exactly how long he sign for, but it wasn’t for 5 years.
SummerSlam is coming up very soon and Rey Mysterio’s storyline with Seth Rollins could continue. It appears that Rollins and Dominik might have a match at the biggest party of the summer, but Rey Mysterio could be there for his son after all.
