WWE and Rey Mysterio appear as though they will come to an official deal to sign a new contract. AEW tried really hard to make sure that didn’t happen.
It was previously thought that All Elite Wrestling might have been playing a role into WWE and Rey Mysterio’s extended contract talks. The idea was that AEW might have matched WWE’s offer.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that AEW did match WWE’s offer per appearance to bring in Mysterio. The issue was that WWE offered far more appearances.
AEW made an offer that equaled the WWE’s per-match offer, but the WWE offer was higher because it was for more dates.
Rey Mysterio’s son Dominik will also get a much bigger opportunity working for WWE than AEW simply due to the size of WWE’s stage. The company also has resources at the Performance Center that can help Dominik as the continues to learn pro wrestling.
The deal isn’t 100% official yet, but it appears that Rey Mysterio will be sticking with WWE.
