WWE ran into an issue with SmackDown’s taping this week. They wanted to get two episodes locked down, but they only taped one. The company is no stranger to changing plans nowadays.
They must perform COVID-19 tests on everyone before they are allowed into the Performance Center. It’s not clear if they had COVID-19 complications, but key people couldn’t be used that they needed around.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about what happened with WWE this time around. Now they must go back and tape again prior to when they previously planned.
“So yesterday here’s what happened. I guess things happened. I don’t know if it was test related or what, but there were key people on SmackDown into the show and the show ended up getting torn apart and re-done anyway as RAW was. So, on Monday night ;ate they made the call to only tape one episode and it was a complete mess on Tuesday and so that show’s on Friday.”
Now SmackDown must tape again on the 13th in order not miss a week of programming. Its unclear exactly what got in the way of WWE pulling off two episodes of the blue brand.
They obviously had enough of an issue that plans needed to change. They are now going to tape SmackDown and RAW on the 13th. It’s unclear when they are taping the episode for the 21st yet.
