WWE is planning to tape two episodes of Raw today, but things are not going smoothly at all. Today has been described to us as “the most unprepared” WWE has been going into television in years.
We exclusively reported that Vince McMahon only approved a fraction segments for Raw this week. That mass rejection took place on Friday which left the creative team with very little time to get a lot of things accomplished.
Ringside News has learned that neither episode of Raw is complete as of this writing. The plan is to usually start shooting at the Performance Center by 1:00 PM, but we were told at around 11:55 AM that they still had a lot of things to do.
A member of the writing team who is at the Performance Center today told us that taping for Main Event was also “a total scramble.” Superstars are being “booked and unbooked and no direction or guidance” is given backstage. Additionally, we were told that producers are “lost because we seem to be directionless.”
Raw was described to us as “a total sh*t show.” That could either be great or terrible for the ratings depending on how bad of a sh*t show it is.
This story seems typical of WWE, but it was stressed to us that the writers had a WrestleMania week-sized load of assignments handed down to them on Friday night after a four-hour call with Vince McMahon where he ripped everything apart. It is also getting very difficult to be creative in that kind of an environment.
Ringside News will continue to monitor this ongoing story.
