WWE wanted a crowd during their shows, but the pandemic caused a big problem for them. They started bringing in WWE NXT Superstars to fill in for those live fans, but the treatment of those Superstars was less than favorable.

Ringside News exclusively reported that they compared themselves to circus animals in regards to the way they were spoken to. Things have gotten better for them in recent weeks.

According to Fightful, conditions have improved, but they’re not amazing yet. Many NXT Superstars have refused to take part in the live crowd experience. These refusals happened even before a positive coronavirus case was discovered in the company. This included the Adam Cole vs Velveteen dream match that was heavily delayed due to weather issues.

We’re told many no-showed the back lot fight between Adam Cole and Velveteen Dream, specifically. Along the way, some NXT Talent, including Undisputed Era were asked to come in as extra noise before friends of the wrestlers were eventually brought in. Prior to that, many of the top names in NXT were exempt from even being asked to come by.

WWE needs to make their television presentation look as good as possible. Having people around to make noise during the matches really helps. Obviously, it’s not worth the risk for some people to come in so they can stand off-camera and shout.
