Big E doesn’t want his stable with the New Day to breakup. He would still like to have a singles run in WWE.
The New Day have remained together for over five years. Breaking up a long-term faction like that could be dangerous because members aren’t guaranteed a good run following the group’s disbanding. Nothing can be guaranteed in WWE.
While speaking to Table Talk, Big E addressed the idea of the New Day breaking up. He stated that some fans would think it’s a cool moment to see the stable end. He then said that other than The Shield, no other faction has been able to find the same success as singles Superstars.
“As cool as the singular moment of us breaking up might be for some, tell me besides The Shield, it’s very rare that you have a breakup where all three benefit. I don’t really foresee us breaking up in a year from now, Woods is on a roll, Kofi is on a roll, and I’m on a roll at the same time, it’s not really going to happen.”
Kofi Kingston captured the WWE Title at WrestleMania 35 as a member of the stable. Big E brought this up as Kofi Kingston was ready for that huge career landmark and WWE didn’t need to break up the New Day to make it happen.
“He was ready and just to see him take that moment and the way people gravitated towards it was really beautiful. So, I think to me, that was really like the takeaway moment is to always be ready for any opportunity and he was ready at that moment.”
Big E is open for a singles run, but he doesn’t want to see the stable break up in order for it to happen. It would be a lot of fun for him and he can imagine himself being a part of something similar to how Kofi Kingston was able to branch out, yet still keep the stable together.
“I’d love to do single stuff, that would be a lot of fun, but I think we don’t need to break up. We can do something similar with Kofi did, where we still stayed a faction, we were still together, he pursued single stuff, so yeah, I’m ready for it.”
WWE keeps the New Day together for a reason. Even with Xavier Woods out of action with an injury they remain a focal point on WWE television. They are still popular and have also used that status to branch out into other commercial opportunities and company outreach.
Perhaps the New Day’s demise will happen eventually, but Big E doesn’t seem to be in any hurry to make it happen.
