Chris Jericho declared that he is the Demo God this week during Fight For The Fallen. They even made up a t-shirt for his new nickname. When the final numbers came in AEW destroyed WWE NXT in a very important demographic.

When the Wrestling Observer Newsletter posted their ratings breakdown, a number jumped out that was a real difference maker for AEW. Fight for The Fallen pulled in 70,000 viewers in the 18-34 demographic compared to NXT’s 6,000. It was specifically noted that the number was “not a misprint.”

AEW was down 21.3% from the previous week in that demographic, but NXT dropped a whopping 87.2%. Both shows had big competition.

According to Showbuzz Daily, The NASCAR Cup Series race was competition for them as it pulled well over 1.5 million viewers all night and started at 8:00 with 2.076 million. UFC Fight Night brought in 536,000 viewers as well.

AEW defeated WWE’s NXT brand this week as they pulled in 788,000 viewers and earned a .29 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic. WWE NXT drew 631,000 fans with a .14 rating in the 18-49 demographic.

Next week won’t have the same competition from both UFC and NASCAR, but AEW will still be headed into the week with much more momentum. You can probably expect to hear Chris Jericho call himself the Demo God a lot as well.
