Vince McMahon is the final say-so about what goes on during WWE programming. He doesn’t know about an idea unless someone tells him. This was a problem for FTR.
While speaking to Inside The Ropes, Dax Harwood explained something that Vince McMahon said to them in their final meeting. McMahon apparently apologized to FTR for WWE’s broken system.
He said the writers were too afraid to pitch The Revival’s ideas to McMahon. This caused The Chairman to say he was sorry during his final meeting with The Top Guys.
“We talked with Vince. Our last meeting with Vince he apologized because we had been sending all these pitches in and he had never seen them because the writers were too afraid to approach him with different ideas and he apologized for the system being broken.”
FTR are now in AEW, but they don’t have a contract yet. They were quite open about discussing why they decided to work without a contract.
WWE’s backstage atmosphere changed a lot even since The Revival left. Paul Heyman’s departure backstage caused things to be shifted around in a big way. Now it seems like it’s even harder to speak with McMahon directly.
