Drew McIntyre Hopes He Gets WWE SummerSlam Match With Randy Orton

WWE is making plans for the future, but not all of them are set in stone. If Drew McIntyre knows his SummerSlam opponent already he’s good at hiding it.

Randy Orton is in full legend killer mode, but he could always target a champion. RKO is on a hot streak right now which could see him battle for the WWE Title at SummerSlam.

Drew McIntyre told Talk Sport that Randy Orton is “on fire right now,” so the idea of facing him is especially exciting. He does not know what SummerSlam holds for him, but “the internet” seem to think a match with The Viper is happening.

“I’m excited at the prospect of me and Randy if it comes together. I hope it happens, the internet seems to know about it before I do [laughs]. The story writes itself; we were kids who were given such great opportunities. Randy has all the natural talent in the world, but he was very protected.”

We previously covered how Edge could wind up in the WWE Title picture once he comes back from injury. This could set up a match against Orton, or even Drew McIntyre later on.

WWE’s plans for WrestleMania “went out the window” as we exclusively reported. That is to blame on Paul Heyman’s firing. Now the company is concentrating on their plans for SummerSlam and whatever August 30th 2020 holds.
