Vince McMahon’s WWE has sold out countless stadiums over the decades and shall continue to do so once the fans are allowed to appear on the shows.
The Barclays Center, the Mercedez-Benz Stadium, the AT&T Stadium and many more have been filled out to the brim by WWE fans but according to WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross, McMahon sees a certain arena as the “mecca” for any WWE Event.
On the Grilling JR podcast, the Hall of Famer discussed the dropping of the old microphone rig at Backlash during the Greatest Match Ever between Edge & Randy Orton. The dropping of the mic rig is something that happens during events in Madison Square Garden.
JR called Madison Square Garden McMahon’s “utopia”. He revealed that the Chairman of WWE views The Garden as the “Mecca” of any WWE event.
The Garden will always be Vince McMahon’s utopia. Madison Square Garden, no matter if they run the Barclays Center or whatever, if all the wounds would heal and the deals are right financially, The Garden will always be the mecca of a WWE event in Vince McMahon’s eyes.
WWE’s live events in MSG are always built up as huge specials and are heavily hyped. Once the COVID-19 pandemic is over, maybe we can finally see the company return to MSG once again for a special event.
