WWE fired Paul Heyman from his role as Executive Director of Raw. Now that he’s gone a lot of things changed backstage.
Paul Heyman and Bruce Prichard have much different leadership and creative styles. Ringside News exclusively reported that a new backstage structure is coming. It’s debatable whether things changed for the better.
Ringside News has learned that WWE’s backstage structure for pitching creative has changed considerably. Ed Koskey “runs the pitch now.” Bruce Prichard is there, but he is described as “The Cheshire Cat sitting there to tell jokes to Vince.” Ryan Ward is there to “laugh at Bruce Prichard’s jokes” and present a “Plan B” in case an idea “bombs with Vince.”
Sources say writers are randomly filtered into these pitch meetings as well. It was described to us that they “rotate” writers. This is a decision made by Vince McMahon as he calls different writers into the room if he wants a different opinion, or if he wants to “make it seem like the writers’ voices are heard.”
Additionally, it was told to us that “they feel every moment in front of Vince is a chance for Vince to get sick of you.” This caused them to change up how long they spend in front of McMahon with an idea.
