Kevin Owens did not take part in yesterday’s tapings for Monday Night RAW. He decided to go home instead of take the risk of wrestling in an environment where he could contract COVID-19.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer explained why Kevin Owens decided to stay at home. His wife’s grandfather just passed away from the novel coronavirus. The positive test in the WWE Performance Center hit too close to home, so he decided to skip the taping.

The impression that Meltzer received is that Kevin Owens will be back during the next round of television tapings. So he might only be gone a week.

“Kevin Owens will not be on this coming RAW because he opted not to stay — he lives in the area, but he decided not to come. They were told that if you don’t want to come you don’t have to come and his wife’s grandfather just passed away from COVID like within the past couple of weeks so the family was concerned obviously with him working with someone who might have COVID in the building. My impression is that he will come back on the 29th so I think he’s just going to miss one week.”

Roman Reigns decided to stay home due to concerns for his family. Kevin Owens decided to do the same thing. We’ll have to see when either of them make a return to WWE, but Owens is apparently expected to come back much sooner than the Big Dog.
