HUGE UPDATE: Initial backstage reactions on Paul Heyman’s firing are quite interesting.
Original: WWE is trimming backstage staff, and as part of those efforts Paul Heyman is no longer Executive Director of WWE’s red team.
The company made the announcement official that Paul Heyman is no longer Executive Director of WWE RAW. He will remain on as Brock Lesnar’s Advocate, but he won’t be pitching in on the creative process like he was.
In an effort to streamline our creative writing process for television, we have consolidated both teams from Raw and SmackDown into one group, led by Bruce Prichard. Paul Heyman will concentrate on his role as an in-ring performer.
This is big news and could shape the future of the RAW brand in a big way. Heyman had his certain Superstars that he was pushing. Now both shows are consolidating their creative into one group. We will have to see what this means for the brand extension.
WWE brought Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff on as Executive Directors of RAW and SmackDown respectively. Now both are out of those roles. Bruce Prichard’s role will change dramatically with this new announcement.
