Shayna Baszler Pitched Fight Pit Match During Her Time In WWE NXT

WWE NXT debuted a brand new match called the fight pit. This was something that Shayna Baszler already asked for multiple times.

During her time on WWE The Bump, Shayna Baszler was asked what she thought of Matt Riddle and Timothy Thatcher’s fight pit match. It turns out that Baszler tried to get permission to run that same type of match, but it was rejected.

The Queen Of Spades then stated that she wanted a Lions Den feel. WWE’s presentation might not have been as gritty as Ken Shamrock vs Steve Blackman, but it was still enjoyable for her to watch a “polished” version.

“The time I was in NXT I was asking for a Lions Den type of match. If you guys think back to Ken Shamrock and whatnot. I think it wasn’t quite as polished. I think the fight pit that happened at NXT is the fully realized polished form of the Lions Den so that’s right up my alley.”

Shayna Baszler’s idea of a fight pit match might be very different from what WWE actually invented. She probably wouldn’t have included the second level either.

CM Punk also stated that he loved and hated the fight pit match, so Baszler isn’t alone in that way of thinking.
