WWE Backlash is this Sunday and the company is promising the greatest wrestling match ever. Edge doesn’t want fans to get their hopes up too much.

While speaking to ESPN, Edge stated that there is no such thing as the greatest wrestling match ever. That statement is totally subjective. Where some people might say Austin vs Rock is the greatest ever others might pick Melina vs Alicia Fox like Cameron did on Tough Enough.

Edge cleared things up the best he could. The Viper and Rated R Superstar certainly gave it their all, but nobody can guarantee the greatest wrestling match ever despite WWE’s best efforts.

“I’ll preface all of this with saying there’s no such thing as the greatest match ever. You’re not going to be able to say definitively, what is the greatest song of all time? What is the greatest painting of all time? What is the greatest movie of all time? What is the greatest band of all time? It’s impossible, because there’s no general consensus — you can have great matches, but what is the greatest is going to be different to almost everybody.”

Edge vs Randy Orton was filmed yesterday at the WWE Performance Center. The company wanted extra time to edit things and make it perfect. It was also reported that there was a tremendous amount of selling which could make it a very long match as well.

It might not be the greatest wrestling match ever, but they tried.
