AEW needed to make a switch recently due to an injury, but they had no trouble finding a replacement from their roster full of hungry talent looking for an opportunity.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Cody vs Fenix was AEW’s plan for next week’s show. That couldn’t happen due to Fenix’s current injury.

It was noted that “Fenix is fine in the sense that he should be back very soon.” He still needed to be swapped out of the TNT Title match against the American Nightmare.

I’m told Fenix is fine in the sense he should be back very soon, and could have worked the match on that night but they must have figured it was not worth the risk and maybe better to do the match when they could tear the house down with no worries.

Marq Quen from Private Party was chosen to take Fenix’s spot. That is a huge opportunity for Quen, but AEW needed to go back and re-edit Dynamite this week because of that change.

All references to Fenix vs Cody Rhodes needed to be trimmed from the show. They got all of them except for one, but it was a quick reference that practically everyone missed.
