Lio Rush had his time in WWE, but that is over now. He recently opened up about his WWE release and how he had to make the call himself.

While speaking to Forbes, Lio Rush explained that he called WWE to ask if he was being released. He heard the news and once he realized that the reports were legitimate he had a feeling that his time in WWE might be over.

“I was the first group of people that were announced. I actually made the call myself.”

“I saw that there were a lot of news sites posting about it. It made mainstream news, so I was like ‘oh man, this might be a real thing.’ So I called the Head of Talent Relations and I just asked—like, straight up—’Am I one of these people who is going to be released today? Because I’m seeing it all over the internet and I don’t want to find out over the internet or through one of my fans.’

Lio Rush was then told, “Unfortunately, yes.” Lio Rush also commented later on that he might not wrestle again. He has a ton of ability and is still young enough to change his mind about retiring for real. He also addressed that tweet while saying that it is how he felt at the time.

“Yes, that was definitely a tweet that I made and have thought that it was very real comment.”

WWE had to make some tough cuts to their roster today. It was a hard day for a lot of people, but hopefully, much better days are in the future for everyone involved. Lio Rush has already continued on his much projects and so much more.
