WWE had to release several on-screen personalities, backstage producers, and many other people who had roles elsewhere in the company. It is a sad day for WWE, but they will carry.
Seth Rollins did not receive an unfortunate phone call today. He went on Instagram live and addressed the recent releases. He encouraged people to bind together for a common cause and unify.
He is tired of seeing all of the negativity toward WWE because this is a difficult time for everyone. The Monday Night Messiah also said the finger pointing should stop because today is a day for compassion and empathy.
“The one thing that I am seeing that is upsetting to me is the negativity and hostility toward WWE. This is a difficult day for everyone, for all of us and I think if there ever was a moment for us to unify, for us to kinda ban together, and do the best we can to keep this business alive the best we know how — this is that moment.”
“I think pointing fingers or saying, ‘you should’ve done this, you should’ve done that’ is… I don’t know it just doesn’t feel like the time or the place for it. I think this is a day for compassion and empathy and understanding and to try to support each other, you know? To pick each other up. That’s for everybody. Not just just the guys and girls who were let go.”
“For all of us who are fortunate at this moment to still be able to, you know, have a position where we can collect a paycheck and support those around us and those who love us I think we have to take it upon ourselves to, you know, work harder to make sure that there’s a place for all those who had it the worse today to come back to.”
“I think as a planet we should rally around the idea that this is only temporary and those who lost their positions and are struggling to figure out what to do next that they’ll be able to make it back from this. Whether that’s with WWE or another organization or a completely new field. This isn’t the end and if we start fighting among ourselves it only makes it worse. So, I encourage you to try to come together over this and try to unify.”
People do need to take the novel coronavirus seriously if we have any hope at leveling off the spread. Hopefully, there will come a day when things will open back up, but it will take a lot of working toward one common goal.
Today was a hard day for WWE, and there could be more to come. The company is doing everything they can to keep the show on the air, but they had to make some tough cuts today.
