Edge Reveals Who Reignited His Passion For Pro Wrestling Before WWE Return

Edge returned to WWE after nearly 10 years away from professional wrestling. It was a long road back for Edge that almost didn’t happen. There was a point in Edge’s life when he had gravitated away from sports entertainment.

While speaking to After The Bell, Edge told Corey Graves that he had fallen out of professional wrestling. When Christian retired he had an idea to create a show. The Edge & Christian Show That Totally Reeks Of Awesomeness was born soon after that.

If it weren’t for that WWE Network show and getting the freedom to express themselves Edge might not have re-ignited that passion for professional wrestling.

“I just gravitated away from wrestling. It was Jay, Christian, who kind of brought me back because when he was forced to retire, he said, ‘Hey why don’t we do a show or something?’ It snowballed into The Edge And Christian Show and again, we were given freedom to just write this ridiculousness and to see all of those things come to life and to be back involved with my first love. It reignited my love for this.”

Edge signed an incredibly lucrative contract to make his return to WWE. He has wrestled two matches of his deal already. We’ll have to see when the Rated R Superstar returns, but it never would have happened if Christian didn’t suggest that they try their hand at a sketch comedy show.
