Nyla Rose is AEW Women’s World Champion. She is also a very proud representative of the LGBTQ community as a transgender woman. AEW has yet to mentioned that Nyla Rose is transgender on Dynamite and some people feel the company is leaving money on the table.
Val Venis, Jim Cornette, and Disco Inferno have both spoken about this subject. There was no hatred about Nyla Rose being a transgender woman. The thinking is that AEW is missing out on heat by not calling any attention to her status as a transgender woman.
Ringside News‘ content manager H Jenkins posted a link to an article we published about the current situation going on in AEW.
One fan commented saying: “Why should they use her gender as a damn angle? Why can’t she simply be a dominating competitor, no need to drag this stuff out if she doesn’t want to drag it out. It’s not a big deal.”
Disco Inferno read this tweet and he had to reply. It seems like a big deal to him because people are coming at him with a label that he feels is unfair.
It is a big deal if you’re being referred to as a transphobe or a bigot for trying to bring it up in discussion
This debate will likely carry on. The “outrage culture” is certainly a part of the IWC. Some people seem so cautious of negativity that they automatically jump on any comment about the subject that isn’t 100% outright praise.
