Sheamus has accomplished a lot during his WWE career, but there is still one big bullet point left to check off for him. He wants to become IC Champion so he can solidify his status as Ultimate Grand Slam Champion in WWE.
While appearing on WWE The Bump this week, Sheamus discussed his WWE return so far. He even admitted that it was a slow build, but things are coming together.
“It’s been great. It’s a slow build, but I was on the sidelines for a long time. I was itching to get back in the ring and it’s been great so far. Not so great for Shorty G or Apollo Crews, but it’s done pretty good for me so far.”
The The Celtic Warrior then revealed that he had an epiphany while on his recent hiatus. He spent some time with Edge doing a Celtic Warrior Workout and he realized that the Rated R Superstar has something that he doesn’t that could make him an Ultimate Grand Slam Champion.
“A blessing can sometimes be a curse,” Sheamus said. He won the WWE Title very early on in his career and then he won the United States title. He picked up a King Of The Ring and Royal Rumble win. He also picked up a Money In The Bank briefcase. There is more he wants to do.
“I went away and then I came back. I put myself into my YouTube channel. I put myself into my training — anything to keep myself going because I can’t sit on the couch and feel sorry for myself.”
“I finally got Edge on the Celtic Warrior Workouts and it was kinda a situation where I wasn’t thinking about coming back. I wasn’t feeling coming back and I saw in Edge’s gym he has every single title he’s ever won. He even has a King Of The Ring trophy. He has every title that they set up and I was like, this is incredible, this is awesome. I have basically won every single one of those titles, but there’s one missing and that’s the Intercontinental Championship. I said to myself this is what I need to focus on. This is why I got back in the game.”
“I want that Intercontinental Championship. I don’t care who has it. I don’t care if it’s Braun Strowman. I don’t care if it’s Shinsuke Nakamura. I really don’t care because all I want right now is that Intercontinental Championship because I want to create a legacy that nobody else is going to match. I want to create a legacy where I become the first-ever Ultimate Grand Slam Champion and all the work all the training all the boxing everything I’ve done to this point will all be worth it when I take that title. I want to make sure that nobody will be able to step up to me or what I plan or what I wanna do. Because as soon as I have title of Ultimate Grand Slam Championship is what I want to hold above everyone else in the history of WWE and everything that I’ve worked for is right there in my grasp. There’s a Brogue Kick coming. I don’t care if it’s there I don’t care if you want it get out of my bleeding way because that’s what I’m gonna take!”
It sounds like Sheamus is certainly motivated enough to make it happen. WrestleMania is coming up soon and The Celtic Warrior could be in line for that Intercontinental Title opportunity that he’s been looking for.
