Cody Rhodes Allowed WWE To Use Father’s Name For Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic

Cody Rhodes sought out to trademark as many names that had to do with his legendary father that he could. This included several trademarks for event names and match concepts. Cody even has The American Dream Dusty Rhodes’ name secured.

WWE is still holding a Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic this year. NXT tag teams will compete for the big honor to win this tournament. While responding to a fan on Twitter, The American Nightmare explained that he gave WWE permission to continue using his father’s name for this prestigious tournament.

If you follow this account, than I’m sure you’ve seen how complimentary to WWE I am and often. I literally just gave them rights to use my dads name for their tag tournie.

Winners of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic have included NXT Tag Team Champions as well as future WWE Champions. There are a lot of ways that a team can get a push by being involved in this tournament. Now WWE can continue using this name with Cody’s permission.
