Goldberg did not appreciate how WrestleMania XX turned out for him at all. He was on his way out of WWE and facing Brock Lesnar who was also leaving. The Madison Square Garden crowd let them all have it in a big way and even “Stone Cold” Steve Austin couldn’t save the match as special referee.

During the Broken Skull Sessions, Goldberg explained how bitter he was at the entire pro wrestling business after that. He was gone for years and didn’t look back one single bit.

“It did not sit well with me for a long time. I had nothing but animosity towards WWE and anybody and everybody associated with it. You know I had my friends that were, you know kinda excluded from that, but it was a really bad taste in my mouth.”

This was not a good impression to stick with Goldberg. He left the pro wrestling business and had already made his money. After that, he lived happily and had a family.

It wasn’t until almost an entire career later that he made a return to the ring so his family could see how he made such a name for himself in the first place.
