Goldberg Explains Why He ‘Wanted To Kill’ Steve Austin

The Monday Night Wars was a very competitive time in the pro wrestling business. Each company had their own top star who wore black trunks and sported a bald head. Now those two legends are sitting down to hash it out.

Goldberg was a guest on The Broken Skull Sessions. When asked about comparisons between himself and The Rattlesnake, Goldberg revealed how heated he felt about the comparisons.

He addressed being considered a “copycat” of Stone Cold, and he also got very caught up in the Monday Night Wars. In fact, Goldberg wanted to kill Austin.

“I wanted to kill you. You represented the enemy. I never could have made it where I was without you being Steve Austin. I was the copycat over at WCW.”

“Did I feel like it? Only when people said something about it. I’d say there is a huge freaking difference between those two guys right there. You and I couldn’t be any more alike, but be more unlike each other.”

Goldberg and Steve Austin both drew tons of cash for their respective companies. It’s remarkable about how well each gimmick worked out in both WWE and WCW. Their styles might have differed greatly, but Goldberg’s look was apparently directly copied from “Stone Cold.”
