WWE released four Superstars this week. Now Luke Harper, Sin Cara, and The Ascension are free to work elsewhere after their 90 day no-compete clause is over.

For the longest time WWE wasn’t granting releases. They didn’t want to contribute their Superstars to the growing pro wrestling landscape. Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that there could be more WWE releases on the way.

“They all got the word [of their releases] on Sunday and then [WWE] put it up. So yeah, Luke Harper and The Ascension and Sin Cara. Which is interesting because — and I’ve heard that there’s more to come — I was told that there would be releases and then it was ‘No, nobody’s getting released’ and it kinda goes back and forth on what they’re gonna do.”

“There’s people who have asked for their release who were not released and there’s people who asked for their release like Sin Cara asked for his release and Luke Harper asked for his release in April I think. Sin Cara was more recent.”

We previously reported that there is word going around that NXT could see some releases soon as well.

We’ll just have to see whether more WWE Superstars will get released any time soon. The Revival asked for their releases a long time ago as well and they have yet to re-sign with WWE. They are still being used as Top Guys doing Top Guy things in WWE which could be a way of messing with them while other releases are granted.
