Dio Maddin spent a little bit of time in NXT and then he was brought up to cut his commentary teeth on the main roster as a part of 205 Live. He was moved over to RAW and then Brock Lesnar attacked him and we haven’t seen Maddin since.
It’s been three weeks since Dio Maddin was on commentary. Samoa Joe filled in for him previously, but he wasn’t on the last episode leaving Monday Night RAW with a two man announce team.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed Dio Maddin’s status. He hasn’t heard anything regarding WWE pulling Dio Maddin off the RAW announce team permanently, but if he doesn’t return soon it’s not a good sign.
“If he’s not on TV this week I would say at that point that it’s probably not a good sign. I mean, obviously the first couple of weeks was selling the F5 [from Brock Lesnar] the first two weeks, I was surprised he was still selling it this week.”
“I have not heard anything with the idea that he is gone, but he hasn’t knocked them dead either and it wouldn’t shock me.”
WWE created a two man announce team for Friday Night SmackDown and that might be what they plan on doing with RAW now. We’ll have to see if Dio Maddin does make his return to RAW, but at this point he should be finished selling the attack from Brock Lesnar.
