While the new style of pro wrestling always seems to entertain the masses and get new fans excited about the product, there’s something to be said for taking it back to the old school.
In WWE guys like The Revival and Robert Roode seem to understand this pretty well, to the point where it’s hard to argue with the fact that they’re all amongst the best workers in the entire company.
Outside of WWE, though, there are plenty more guys and girls that like to take things back to the good old days – with two such examples being Joey Ryan and Shawn Spears, both of whom tend to divide opinion within the scope of wrestling fans.
Ryan’s divide tends to be more focused on the sexual aspect of what he does week in and week out, which is understandable. The guy’s lollipop act isn’t exactly subtle, and he doesn’t live to impress the fans. He does what he wants to do, and credit to him for that.
Shawn Spears, on the other hand, just seems to be a bit hold and cold. A lot of fans enjoy the fact that he’s turned heel and has a new persona about him, with the Cody Rhodes feud being a big part of that.
Others feel like he just isn’t entertaining enough to be hanging around with some of the top guys in the company over in All Elite Wrestling. Still, this is only just the beginning of his run over there.
