AEW is holding a Bash At The Beach event and WWE might not like that very much. Vince McMahon’s company owns the rights to The Bash and they tried to shut Cody down by saying those two names were too similar. Let’s see if Cody files for an appeal.

In other trademarking news, PW Insider reports that WWE recently filed for a new trademark on WarGames. This was a property that WWE bought from MLW when Court Bauer suddenly found the trademark was up for grabs. Major League Wrestling held a couple WarGames bloodbaths, but then WWE bought it for NXT.

On 11/19, WWE applied to trademark War Games for “G & S: Entertainment services, namely, a show about professional wrestling; entertainment services, namely, the production and exhibition of professional wrestling events rendered live and through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing wrestling news and information through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information”

Cody Rhodes owns the rights to plenty of nostalgic pro wrestling names including “The Match Beyond” which is the 2nd half of a WarGames match. This could be an interesting situation simply keeping in track of the names of these branded events.
