Cody Rhodes really likes to own properties because he realizes how the game is played. He went on a bit of a spree recently and locked down a bunch of copyrights. Now he has added two more impressive WCW pay-per-view names to AEW’s collection.
PW Insider reports that Rhodes applied for trademarks on Slamboree and SuperBrawl. This could be a big deal for AEW if they can get those names approved and put the wheels in motion for some new events.
AEW’s Cody Runnels applied to trademark Slamboree on 11/19 for “G & S: Entertainment in the nature of ongoing television programs in the field of professional wrestling; Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer; Providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network”
Runnells also applied to trademark SuperBrawl for “G & S: Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer; Entertainment services, namely, production and distribution of ongoing television programs in the field of professional wrestling; Providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network”
We’ll have to see what Cody Rhodes and AEW does with those names. Bash At The Beach is coming in 2020 and WWE might not like that very much. Let’s see if WWE has any objection to All Elite Wrestling throwing a Slamboree or SuperBrawl event.
