Who Knew About CM Punk’s WWE Backstage Surprise

WWE Backstage didn’t bring a lot of viewers in this week so it will be interesting to see how many people stayed up late on a Tuesday night to watch it this week. Odds are plenty more people will be watching next week as CM Punk promised he will be on the show.

Since WWE Backstage didn’t promote any kind of surprise, fans had no idea CM Punk would show up. Then again, neither did the people actually on WWE Backstage.

PW Insider reports that nobody on camera knew that CM Punk would be showing up except for Renee Young. This was done as a way to prevent leaks and they were able to pull it off.

CM Punk’s return on WWE Backstage tonight was kept a secret from everyone on camera with the exception of Renee Young as a way to prevent the return from leaking.

Fans are waking up this morning in a world where CM Punk appeared on WWE Backstage last night. It might be a bit of an adjustment to make, but he didn’t sign an actual WWE contract. He did sign a deal with FOX which means the Second City Savior will be appearing on WWE Backstage as a special contributor.
